On 2 October 2026, Web3 Week Asia is 40 days away. The two-day crypto and blockchain event opens in Jakarta on Wednesday 11 November and runs through Thursday 12 November, in the Grand Ballroom at Kuningan City.
Those 40 days are unusually crowded. Before the opening session, the market has to get through a Bank Indonesia policy meeting, a US Federal Reserve decision, the Mt. Gox repayment deadline, the US midterm elections and the end of a 12-month transition window that OJK gave Indonesian crypto operators.
Several of the quarter's biggest scheduled risks will be resolved before the doors open. That is the backdrop worth understanding before you arrive.

The 40-day calendar
Six dated events fall between 2 October and the opening of Web3 Week Asia. Each is scheduled, public and relevant to crypto in the region.
16 October: Singapore's stablecoin consultation closes. The Monetary Authority of Singapore opened a consultation on 1 September on the legal changes needed to bring its 2023 stablecoin framework into force. Comments close on 16 October. It comes six months after Hong Kong issued its first stablecoin licences, in April 2026.
20-21 October: Bank Indonesia. The October Board of Governors meeting is also BI's quarterly and annual review. BI held its policy rate at 5.75 per cent on 23 September, its third consecutive hold. After the Fed's September increase, the gap between the BI-Rate and the top of the US range is 1.75 percentage points, down from 2.00. That spread is one of the things that supports the rupiah against the dollar, and the Fed narrowed it.
27-28 October: the Federal Reserve. This is the first Fed meeting since it raised rates by a quarter point to 3.75-4.00 per cent on 16 September, its first increase in more than three years. Bitcoin shrugged off the September hike and was above US$85,000 five days later. The decision on 28 October lands in the early hours of 29 October in Jakarta.
31 October: the Mt. Gox deadline. The trustee of the exchange that collapsed in 2014 has until 31 October to complete repayments to creditors, after already moving the deadline once from 31 October 2025. In June 2026 the trustee moved 10,422 bitcoin, worth about US$739 million at the time, to a new wallet. Whether the remaining coins are distributed or the deadline moves again, the answer will be known before Web3 Week Asia opens.
3 November: the US midterm elections. On 27 September, asked whether there could be more strikes on Iran before the vote, Donald Trump said it was possible. The result also decides who writes the next attempt at federal crypto market structure legislation, after the CLARITY Act failed a Senate procedural vote on 15 September.
Around 10 November: OJK's transition window closes. POJK 23/2025, which took effect on 10 November 2025, gave crypto operators 12 months to bring two things into line with the new rules: the mechanism for placing consumer funds, and the ownership and control of their trading systems. OJK can extend the period. If it does not, the window closes on the eve of Web3 Week Asia.
Where the market stands going in
Bitcoin ended the third quarter roughly 40 to 43 per cent above where it started, depending on the source and the hour measured. That is its best third quarter since 2017 and its best quarter of any kind since the end of 2024.
It got there through a Fed rate increase, the failure of the CLARITY Act and a suspected North Korean breach of Bitget's hot wallets on 24 September.
Indonesia's numbers are more mixed. OJK data show transaction value fell 28.2 per cent in July to Rp20.52 trillion, even as the number of consumers rose to 22.93 million. August figures from CFX, one of Indonesia's two licensed crypto exchanges, showed spot trading up 16 per cent to Rp17.6 trillion, with derivatives at Rp5.98 trillion, about a third of spot volume.
The licensed industry has grown at the same time. OJK's list dated 22 September 2026 names 28 licensed digital asset traders. Add the two exchanges, two clearing houses and two custodians, and 34 entities now hold OJK licences in the sector.
Why the timing matters for an Indonesia crypto event
By 11 November, the October Fed decision will be public, the US election will have been counted, the Mt. Gox estate will have either finished its repayments or asked for more time, and OJK's 12-month window for operators will have closed or been extended.
That changes what is worth discussing in the room. Instead of forecasting what those decisions might bring, the conversation can start from what they did bring: where rates and the rupiah ended up, how the market priced the election result, and which Indonesian operators completed the transition on time.
The honest counterweight
Scheduled events are not the only risk. One of the largest crypto stories of late September was unscheduled: the Bitget hot wallet breach, revised to about US$387.5 million. The next shock, if there is one, will not be on any calendar.
Deadlines move. OJK can extend its transition period, and the Mt. Gox trustee has extended before. A deadline on paper is not a resolution.
A calendar says nothing about direction. Knowing when the Fed meets does not tell you what it will decide or how bitcoin will react.
What the two days are built around
The organisers list four tracks. Investor Meetups connects investors with Web3 projects. Alpha Callers covers market analysis and trading. Web3 Entrepreneur runs workshops and mentorship for founders. Indonesia Crypto Outlook 2026 covers the regulatory and market landscape.
The organisers say the 2026 speaker line-up and agenda will be announced soon. Previous editions featured William Sutanto, co-founder and CEO of Indodax; Calvin Kizana, CEO of Tokocrypto; Rob Chiu, head of APAC at ViaBTC; and Eddy Christian Ng, expansion lead at Tether.
Three passes are on sale. The Student pass covers both days of the main conference and the expo, with a valid student ID required at entry. The General pass adds food and beverage access and the official after-party. The VIP pass adds an exclusive dinner, a VIP lounge, a networking session and connection services.

Event details, tracks, passes and 2025 figures are from the official Web3 Week Asia site as of 2 October 2026. Fed meeting dates are from the Federal Reserve's FOMC calendar and the September decision from its statement of 16 September 2026. The Bank Indonesia meeting schedule is from BI's December 2025 release, reported by Bisnis and CNBC Indonesia; the 23 September rate decision is from CNBC Indonesia, CNN Indonesia and Antara. The Singapore consultation is from Reed Smith and Gibson Dunn; Hong Kong's first stablecoin licences are from the Hong Kong government release of 10 April 2026 and Elliptic. The Mt. Gox deadline is from CoinDesk and Decrypt; the June 2026 transfer is from CoinDesk and Yahoo Finance. Trump's remarks are from CoinDesk and FXStreet. Third-quarter performance is from Yahoo Finance using CoinGlass data, FXStreet and FinanceFeeds. July OJK data are from Kompas and Warta Ekonomi; August CFX data are from Suara and Pasardana. Licence counts are from OJK's list dated 22 September 2026, IDX Channel and Periskop. Bitget figures are from Bitget, Cointribune and BleepingComputer.
Methodology: the OJK deadline is calculated as 12 months from POJK 23/2025's effective date of 10 November 2025, as stated on OJK's regulation page, which also says OJK may extend it. The third-quarter return is given as a range because sources measured it at different times on 30 September. CFX reported a 50 per cent monthly rise in derivatives, but its own July and August figures imply closer to 60 per cent, so no growth rate for derivatives is cited. The Jakarta timing of the Fed decision assumes the Fed's usual afternoon release in Washington. Event details are as published by the organisers.
